High-Rise Apartment Façade & Slab Edge Concrete Cancer Remediation
Façade bands, slab edges, soffits & projections remediation delivered at North Sydney, NSW.
Project Overview
This North Sydney, NSW project involved façade bands, slab edges, soffits & projections. Works were delivered under rope-access staged works conditions, with the repair programme focused on safe access, reinforcement treatment and durable concrete reinstatement.
THE PROBLEM
Concrete cancer affected external slab edges, soffits and façade projections, with cracking, rust staining and localised spalling across multiple levels.
THE REPAIR
Rope-access crews removed unsound concrete, treated corroded reinforcement and rebuilt damaged profiles with structural repair mortar.
THE OUTCOME
Affected façade and slab-edge sections were reinstated as part of a staged high-rise remediation programme.
SITE CONDITIONS
High-rise rope access, overhead works and an occupied strata environment required controlled exclusion zones.
A Controlled Remedial Process
Each project follows the actual repair requirements, access constraints and site conditions.
Inspection & Defect Mapping
Affected areas were inspected, mapped and confirmed so the repair extent could be planned before breakout.
Controlled Concrete Breakout
Unsound and delaminated concrete was removed back to a sound substrate while surrounding areas were protected.
Reinforcement Treatment
Exposed reinforcement was cleaned, assessed and treated, with replacement or augmentation completed where required.
Structural Reinstatement
Compatible structural repair mortar was placed and finished to reinstate the original concrete profile.
Protective Interfaces
Repair edges, interfaces and exposed surfaces were detailed to suit the surrounding structure and site conditions.
Final Inspection
Completed repair areas were checked for finish, continuity and compliance before the work zone was handed back.
