BEFORE AFTER

The illustrated repair result

The main pile has a continuous cementitious finish; the surrounding wharf remains outside the repair area.

THE PROJECT SCOPE

What the work involves

This comparison focuses on the large support pile beneath the wharf deck. The before view shows fractured cover and exposed corroded reinforcement. The after view shows the main pile resurfaced down to the waterline. Adjoining beams, overhead concrete and other piles remain visibly weathered, so this example does not represent a complete wharf refurbishment.

Pile faces

Record the open spalls, cracked cover and visible corrosion on the accessible faces.

Adjoining junction

Review the weathered upper junction as a separate assessment area; the image does not show it fully refurbished.

Waterline zone

Assess accessible concrete near marine growth separately from the dry upper faces.

WATERFRONT CONDITIONS

Access & staging

The deck limits overhead clearance, while the water restricts access around the pile. Site planning would need to establish a suitable platform, working windows and debris containment for each face.

A COORDINATED APPROACH

Typical repair sequence

  1. Inspect the pile and junction

Map visible defects on the support and adjoining overhead concrete.

  2. Confirm access and repair details

Establish work positioning and obtain structural input for the assessed damage.

  3. Prepare the repair zones

The specified scope would address unsound cover and the condition of exposed reinforcement.

  4. Reinstate and document

Rebuild the specified profiles, allow for curing and record the completed repair areas.
