Major Hospital Structural Concrete Crack Repair & Injection Programme
Walls, suspended slabs, joints & crack injection remediation delivered at Westmead, NSW.
Project Overview
This Westmead, NSW project involved walls, suspended slabs, joints & crack injection. Works were delivered under live-facility staged works conditions, with the repair programme focused on safe access, reinforcement treatment and durable concrete reinstatement.
THE PROBLEM
Static structural cracks, active water-bearing cracks and deteriorated movement joints were identified across multiple reinforced-concrete areas.
THE REPAIR
Repairs included epoxy injection, polyurethane injection, routing and sealing, movement-joint remediation and engineered crack stitching where required.
THE OUTCOME
Structural and water-bearing cracks were progressively remediated while critical hospital operations remained functional.
SITE CONDITIONS
Sensitive healthcare areas, strict access controls and live operations required tightly coordinated staging and engineering oversight.
A Controlled Remedial Process
Each project follows the actual repair requirements, access constraints and site conditions.
Inspection & Defect Mapping
Affected areas were inspected, mapped and confirmed so the repair extent could be planned before breakout.
Controlled Concrete Breakout
Unsound and delaminated concrete was removed back to a sound substrate while surrounding areas were protected.
Reinforcement Treatment
Exposed reinforcement was cleaned, assessed and treated, with replacement or augmentation completed where required.
Structural Reinstatement
Compatible structural repair mortar was placed and finished to reinstate the original concrete profile.
Protective Interfaces
Repair edges, interfaces and exposed surfaces were detailed to suit the surrounding structure and site conditions.
Final Inspection
Completed repair areas were checked for finish, continuity and compliance before the work zone was handed back.
