BEFORE AFTER

The illustrated repair result

The visible wall face is continuous, with the former spalls and exposed reinforcement covered.

THE PROJECT SCOPE

What the work involves

This seawall comparison follows the same waterfront alignment in both views. Open spalls, corrosion and cracked cover are visible before repair. The after view shows a continuous grey finish along the visible wall face towards the waterline. The example concentrates on the exposed face; it does not establish the condition of the wall behind or below the photographed area.

Exposed wall face

Map openings, cracking and rust staining along each accessible section.

Embedded reinforcement

Assess the visible bars and define any steel work within the repair design.

Tidal interface

Review water exposure and marine growth when setting the lower repair limits.

WATERFRONT CONDITIONS

Access & staging

Access would be planned along the length of the seawall, taking account of water levels, the area behind the wall and any public waterfront routes. Containment and curing arrangements would be selected for the assessed repair zones.

A COORDINATED APPROACH

Typical repair sequence

  1. Survey the seawall

Record visible defects and identify sections needing closer investigation.

  2. Set out staged repair areas

Confirm access, water exposure and the specified repair boundaries.

  3. Prepare and reinstate the face

Address defective concrete and exposed steel in accordance with the repair detail.

  4. Cure and review the sections

Check the reinstated areas and document the completed work before reopening access.
